    Brand new Kings 60L fridge.

    Hey guys.

Just got the new Kings fridge today and noticed its a new model. It appears to be a rebranded Nova Kool BCD 60L. It uses a Secop comoressor (previously named Danfoss i have heard).

They also have new 70L dual zone fridges but they arr much bigger externally and about 30% more in price

I bought the kings due to cheap price and decent reputation, but that was based on the old one (the rebadged waeco). The new one will still run on 12/24/240V but it uses a power brick to convert 240V into 24V instead of having a built in transformer. Apart from this being inconvenient to carry I'm not sure there is any benefit? Apart from that they look similar.

Does anyone have any experience with the Nova Kool fridges? Or any stories? Anything to look out for?

    Cheers

    Dan

The fridge is currently set to -15, temp is about -12.5C. The compressor sounds like a few computer fans under load. Doesn't sound bad but is a little louder than i expected - I was expected more of your typical fridge sound.

I thought it was loud aswell, once you set the temp it gets buzing until it brings it to or closer to the desired temp then goes quiet again ,lowers the temperature pretty quick though I thought, took about 35 minutes to get mine from 15°C to - 8°C on DC .

I just bought one of these new ones a week ago from the supacentre. What are you setting the temperature to when using it as just a fridge? Mine feels like its not keeping a consistent temperature , or maybe I'm opening it more often, I'm not sure.

I usually set it to 1 or 2 if im opening it a bit, 4 overnight. The thermostat is in the base so when you're opening it a bit stuff at the top can warm up pretty quick.

I wish it had a thicker lid, as thats the thinnest part of the fridge and where most of the heat seems to escape. I thought about getting the split fridge freezer version ehich has a thicker lid, but its so much bigger externally than the cheaper one, and takes up too much space.

I set my waeco to 0 and often turn off at night as it's usually just at 4 by morning.
