    Camp Fridge thermometer location

    Hi all,

Just bought a frudge and a wireless thermometer and am wondering where is the best place to put the thermometer? (And dont just say "in the fridge" )

I have had the thermometer sitting on the base of the cage when it was empty and it sat about 2° above the set temp of -15. I've since fixed it to the wall of the fridge and it sat at 7° overnight while the fridge was set to 0°. (It's the little white box in the photo below)

Disregarding the accuracy of the thermometer, is that the sort of difference I should be expecting with the thermometer in that location? I put it there for a worst case reading, but should i put it somewhere else?

    Cheers

    Dan

Ps. Thanks to the mod who moved this to the correct spot Camp Fridge thermometer location

That area of the fridge is not chilled directly so not surprising it was reading 7c when the thermostat was set at 0c.

If the object of using a wireless thermometer is just to alert you if the fridge loses power for any reason then that's as good a place as any but it will never match whatever the thermostat set point is set to while in that location.

If the wireless thermometer reads 2c higher than thermostat set point when placed in the caged area I would say all is pretty good with the fridge performance.

Where you place it depends on what you want to achieve with it - check on fridge performance or check fridge has at least power without needed to physically be in it's presence..

I think I have the same unit as you Dan. Don’t worry about where it is too much, it’s more about temperature change over time especially if the fridge has stopped. You’ll get a sense of it as you get used to what it reads. I tried to place it around the middle of the food rather than right at top or bottom.

    Cheers,

    Thanks guys.

That area is supposed to be a dairy area (according to the fridge manual), so 8° is probably a bit warm.

I'm currently out, but have the fridge set to -4° to see if it makes a difference, and if anything freezes. I cant really stick the thermometer in the other section due to the cage.

I might just move the non critical items to the upper section and the beer to the warmer section
