Yep, once you have a self supporting you’ll never go back, we deploy our alu-cab nearly every time we pull up cause it’s that easy.
We went on a trip to Kangaroo Island over Christmas.
Was a "bit" disappointed with the King awning I already had installed some years ago.
Don't get me wrong, the King awning has been a great awning for the price, and I still recommend it.
One of my gripes with the Kings has been with its "erection".
Once up, with poles and pegs, its a bit of a hassle to move once its standing erect.
So my missus reckons we need a new one, she recommended the 30 second "erecting" awning, so I bought one. No poles needed upto a 10 knots or so.
The installation was not easy, its a 2 man job as it weights 20+kgs.
Very happy with this new awning, it really does go up in 30 seconds and it takes a about 90 seconds to pack up.
Note: I have a Hannibal rack.

Why would you need to move it unless you were packing up, had my kings for about 4 years and they are great for the price.
I'd just flip it back onto the roof if i need to move a couple of meters.

Normally he has little facts to back up a lot of what he says......
Ours has been through some big storms and defend winds and has come out the other side without issue. I got mine for a stupid god price, If I had my time over and now a little wiser I’d probably go the ostrich as it seems good value for money.
Anyways good olde andrew.....who builds the ultimate tourer only to stuff it up, too heavy, not for for purpose for his business amd I believe is now building another rig........the guys we’re all supposed to look to for over-landing advice.

I agree with you, the Kings are great for the price.
4 of us (plus dog) spent 7 hours under it during a major storm whilst camped in the Vic High Country.
We had 1 side awning, and it was great. Every now and then, we would push the roof and dump the water.
Kangaroo island, we had a wet night as well.
The Kings collects water on its roof. It doesnt go thru to where you sit which is great.
The new one channels it off.
Its not about moving the shade more the convenience of putting it up that made me buy it.
For example:-
1. You setup camp, popped the awning out, then realise you have no beer left because the misses drank it all last night.
With the Kings its a bit of a hassle, with the 30 second it takes 1 min to pack up and 30 secs again to erect.\
2. You pull up on the side of the road on the nullarbor, just to stretch your legs.
The ground is hard as a rock to bang in some pegs, let alone the few mins to unfold and pack up.
With the 30sec, its actually 30 seconds to erect (as long as its not too windy). No need for poles or pegs.
You get what you pay for.
