    "Cheap" ebay rooftop tents?

    G'day all,

I'm interested in a rooftop tent, and was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the no name "Cheap" ones available on ebay, like this one or this one? With shipping, they are still $800 - $1000, so it's still alot of money, but quite cheap compared to some of the other brands.

Anyone on the forum bought one or seen one up close and have an idea of the quality of these tents?

    Hi,
I have had the first one now for over 2 years. We have used on a 2.5 months outback trip and seen 9 inches of rain overnight at Carnarvon.Still going strong. The cover will get a small rip in corners over time, but for the price and use I would buy another.Just remember it is not a expessive unit, but it certainly does the job.Like anything out of China double check things.

    Cheers
    Paul

Thanks for the posts. We had a look at them on ebay. They look pretty good considering the price. I noticed also they are made in South Africa. I reckon that would be a good thing - they do a lot of camping there! We are tossing up whether to get one (really can't afford it, but still ...)

you know why they are on the roof???

It gives the lions a chance to use your warm bonnet to clean them selfs after they snack on you.....

Makes me laugh..... as if a big cat wont use a bonnet as a step to come get you....
