It's a great place, we were down there over the xmas new year break for a night back in 03. We only stayed a night because we were on a bit of an exploration though we have since wanted to return and I think i might have to do so soon. Before it gets too cold. Does it get very cold there in the cooler months?

Part of the problem is that the sun doesn't appear over the mountain range till a couple of hours after sunrise and it sets pretty early too.

Just tried it, straight after reading the thread.

Of course I copped the usual

"What are you doing in the kitchen"

"Make sure you clean up any mess"

"Are you mad, it's too late"

Some 5 mins later, I then get....."Mmmm, this is nice, can you make up some custard"

We tried it in the camp oven, made enought for 1 cup the divided it into two mugs, in the camp oven for 10mins and mmmmmmmm yummo!

Here it is in a bowl with custard! Mmmmm

I'm intrigued by this recipe. I'm always looking for some way to impress my fellow Scoutmasters with recipes while out camping and this seems right up my alley! But I need to know, what is "S.R." flour? In Yank terminology, if you know it! ;)

It's not just regular "All-Purpose" white flour, is it?

SR stands for Self Raising flour! Basically flour where you don't need to add any yeast.

SR stands for "Self Raising".

It has some Baking Powder in it to make it rise.

You can convert plain flour using one of the following methods.

To convert plain flour into self-raising flour, add two teaspoons of baking powder to each cup of plain flour.
Adding one teaspoon of cream of tartar and half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to one cup of plain flour gives the same result.
