    Clean Water

Any body here use, carry or have a water filtration setup, in your rover to filter fresh water for drinking, while out bush, camping? I have used a small hand operated "Pur" unit while on remote area bicycle tours to filter river water for drinking. It has a level 2 filter, capable of removing bacteria, snail eggs, cryptosporidium, etc, but not virus,s.,, but i,m thinking that it may be far too slow to use for the larger quantities i could carry in my Defender. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for a system incorporating a 12v flo jet pump?
I,ve seen systems for hot water showers but i,m sure most people would agree that the quality of the water you put in your body, is a little more important than the temperature of the water, you bathe with!.
    Regards and thanks, Laurie.

I use a dual cartridge filter (fibre + activated carbon) for filling the tanks on the Kamper. The main reason for this is if the water sits for any time I know its OK.

I guess that one of my reasons for starting this topic, is that i,m a solo traveler, and i only have me to count on, so all possible precautions are worthwhile.

We always filter tap water when filling the camper and I also have a carbon filter tap with which we drink from. If not taking the camper I fill a 20 ltr drum from home for drinking..obviously that will not last on an extended trip..I have sometimes resorted to buying water if I run out

If I get any suspect water, a four drops of Betadine to 1 Liter the water will kill any nasties, 30 ml of Betadine is enough to disinfect 150 liters of water.
It does have an Iodine taste, so a flavoring might cover it up, I don't bother.
The other benefit is that you would normally have Betadine in your 1st aid kitanyway.
