Has anyone got one of those Foxwings, made by the Oztent people.
I am thinking of getting one,but dont know if it will stand up to the wind on the beach.....
I will also have to get a couple of roof bars as i dont want a rack, dont think the roof rails will be strong enough for it.
Am looking at a set of Rhino's,as we use them on our work vans & they are very strong. What sort of bars do you guys use?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have one, they can be had for close to 800 if you shop around, i got a very good deal from a mate at ARB but i have seen others pick them up with 20% discount as well.
They are very good, easy to setup and quick to pack away, we had it out on the beach over the long weekend, we had some decent wind on the monday morning and it held up very well even though it was only pegged down in a couple of places and tied of to the car!
You can also buy sides for it to enclose part of it, we havnt yet but plan on getting a few.
Theres only one complaint i have so far, i think i broke one of the mounting bolts when i was putting it on, the ones that slide into the back of the awning and bolt it to the brackets, nothing major and can be replaced easily enough with something stronger but it has me worried teh others may break so i will be replacing them all. Its also a bit of a mission to get on to the brackets while its on the car, i suggest you line up the brackets on the awning on the ground then bolt the on to the rack rather then bolting the brackets on the racks then lining up the awning - we are just leaving them on the sports bars and removing the whole bar (2 screws for each bar 4 in total) 1-2mins to take off or put on.
It is a perfect fit for my prado, and i think it would work great on a disco as well, but on a 110 it wouldnt come right to the front door i dont think. It goes great with my new Oztent rv5 too, they can be attached to each other![]()
I have 1 on my D2 and used it camping last weekend and it was sensational - will download some photos tonight or tomorrow. cheers JP
The parents have one (after I told them about it!!) and they say its one of the best designed bits of gear they have had...and trust me they have EVERYTHING!
I am definitely getting one for my next big trip as I can hook up my oztent to it. If its a reliable as the oztents I would be worried. Good build quality.

Sorry - this is the first time I have posted photos. cheers JP
How do you go with the height of the unit? From what I've seen they stick up in a rather high "box" when folded, or is this disguised by the roof rack?
Personally I don't like the idea of that many poles for a quick set up/take down but the concept is certainly a good one for a large amount of shade and certainly fills in a gape in the market nicely.

We have one and are about to embark on our Cape trip using it most of the way instead of the awning on the camper trailer for speed of set up. We have it attached to a Hanibal 2m roof rack and it sits nicley. We did have to get replacement poles as the ones they supplied were too short for a Defender with 2" lift? They did the swap FOC happy. I Got mine from Hanibal here in Brisbane, Peter realy looked after me.
Cheers,
My disco has OME suspension so is about 50mm above standard so if not windy can set it up without the poles. The poles are really quick and easy though so isn't a problem. cheers JP
