Smile Awning/annex on the side of car, which brand?

    G'day,

I was just wondering if any one has a canvas or vinyl awning/annex that is permenantly on the side of a roof rack when traveling?

I know that Ezi-Awn do one that has a option of being able to zip some sides on to it to fully enclose it.

The camper set up i am going to do as i can affoard it is put a floor on my canopy, (i have a defender ute) then another one about 40cm higher then that so i can sleep on it with out moving any of my sutff. And have a awning/annex set up so i can have a sliding/swing out kitchen on the side. Should suit me well and be fairly comfortable

For now i will put on a sail track and tarp but this is what i want in the long term

    Thanks for any help/advice!

    Cheers
    Ben

I recently got a Oztent/rhino Foxwing awning, not cheap but a very nice bit of gear, it gives great coverage as it wraps around the vehicle as it opens up, they can also have walls attached to close them in check them out on the oztent website. www.oztent.com.au

The other option for us was the ARB awning, it seems like a pretty good buy compared to the foxwing, but doesnt cover all that much.

Thanks every oen for your replys! I quite like the hannibal one that was recomended.

Just one more question how do the awnings go in rain? I just wonder because i think the out side edge is hard so i would assume would be a really good place for water to pool? Or is it nice and tought so it doesn't pool?

    Cheers

It will pool as you describe but if the car is slightly up hill its not a problem. Hannibal recommend that if you are going to put it up in heavy downpours to use two poles at the front but to date I haven't had a problem and it has now been through the NT wet season.

I have just seen an ad for Ironman who have now got a rooftop tent and an awning in their range of products. The awning is only $295 so might be worth checking out for that price.

BCF Flog a cheap 2mtr wide by 3mtr long awning that attaches to the roof rack,
rolls out with 2 x poles, guy ropes and pegs for $180.00.
