This is an interesting comment, in that, if you "sterilise" with a solution, and then rinse it out, the point of sterilising is lost. Whilst I agree with the principle as regards the water tank, when home brewing, if I use a sterilising solution.......if, I never rinse it out, as that defeats the purpose. (sorry to repeat myself):p

BTW, FWIW, I have a galvanised tank in my vehicle and a plastic tank in the camper trailer and have never had an issue with taste from either.

The issuse is the type of plastic used in the manufacture of the tank or plastic jerry.
Food grade plastics is what you are after.(costs more)
I find EX army plastic jerry cans good for water.(second hand from army disposals)
They are thicker and will not break.
The problem is now you can buy new look a like army plastic jerrys which are thin and break and also are made from cheaper materials and therefore taste issuses.
.Better caravan and boat shops sell food grade and taint free plastic pipes and tanks etc.(at extra price)
