Had a look at the sunseeker awning today at the Rosehill 4WD show (went specifically to look at awnings).

It seems to be a reasonable bit of gear, looked better than the ARB awning. Foxwing is out of the budget but also has too many poles etc for my liking. Apparently though there are very few Sunseeker awnings left in the country and next shipment is not due for 5 or 6 weeks. RRP was $440.

What gauge are the auminium poles? Based on my experience, I'd say 2.25 is too light and you need 2.5.

I;m considering doing that same thing.
if you are going to or have done it can i check yours out? i'm in south bris but up north quite a bit. i was thinking of getting some alumium welded up , so might work to get a couple at the same time. - i also have the use of a big workshop at my school that i teach at.
on close inspection it doesn't look too hard to do. the only problem for me is that i have a tent on the racks already and watching the weight.
i also hear that you have solar panels ? would like to check them out.

I bought a foxwing and a couple of walls from Oz-tent at the Melb 4x4 show last week,
delivery was for October and has now been pushed out to November,

BTW the Oz-tent website has the foxwing price at $799.--

Nice! I have always been of the thought that The Foxwing was indulgent but after seriously looking at the options at the Show last week and pricing a side and rear awning, The Foxwing isn't a bad choice at all.

I bought a Foxwing athe Sydney 4WD show a couple of weeks back. $750, carry away (FYI, they JUST fit inside a D2. Rests on the dashboard, and touches the back door ... we didn't have any roof racks!)

... and now, have to get some racks organised.

We looked long and hard at the options out there. A side awning just isn't enough ... maybe 5sqm coverage. The Foxwing is 10sqm and covers the back of the D2. A side & back awning aren't far off the price of a Foxwing.

We also bought an Oztent RV-5 & peaked side panels ... its awning will zip up to the foxing on any one of the 4 sides, and with 1 or both side panels up offers plenty of covered living area for 2 adults & 1 kid ... and dog.
