Yes we have used ours a lot. We don't sleep under it, but use it as shade/shelter from sun and rain even when we stop for lunch. A lot depends on the weather of course but if it is hot and sunny it really is worth having, only takes 30 seconds to put up and about a minute to pack up.
Use ours all the time as well. It really is so easy to put up and down. Have a great camper trailer that is quite easy to erect, but to put the awning up is very hard, went camping for 5 days last week and just used the Hannibal to provide shade and cover the kitchen area.

Well I have a polaris awning and it has been brilliant....
made to measure custom colour... think it was $1300 with 4 complete sides that go to the ground + ropes etc..
Never leaked..... it also has a window and a door, window is big with a fine mesh mozzy netting behind it.
when I got it we noticed the zip had lost a tooth on the main part of the roof..contacted him he was really apologetic had a courier pick it up next day and was returned to the door 3 days later.
I would recommend them from my experience.:)
I bought an Iornman 3 weeks ago and it was magic on the beach. The only time I didn't put it up was in the late afternoon when the car was casting a large enough shadow that it wasn't necessary.

By yourself its quite easy to put up and take down but with a second set of hands its a cinch.
I roped it down on one day because there was enough wind to lift it up but on the other days I didn't bother and it didn't have any worries.
Is it straight forward putting the sides up? Easy for one person to do alone?Quote:

The two arms are adjustable in length so you just tighten them up it and then velcro the canvas to the arms. The weight of the bar and the legs is enough for it to stand up by itself in a moderate breeze without ropes.

Installation is a case of bolting it to something. It came with 6 bolts and locknuts and 2 L brackets for attaching to roof bars. I cut the brackets up and used them to lift the whole thing up an inch because when I bolted it directly to the side of my rack the zip would rub on the roof.
The back of the awning has two slots which hold the head of the bolt captive and enable you to position the bolt anywhere you need it to go.
That looks like the Chinese copy that Oky (from Gunyah) was talking about. It looks identical in design to my Gunyah awning. It now looks as though it has put him out of business, as he expected it would :(Quote:
