Which Awning?

The canvas on my Hannibal Awning has got so hot I've had to wear gloves, so has the Kimberley Kamper. Got something to do with the sun I believe;)

I wonder how long the Chinese ones will last? I wonder if they use UV stabilised material as that will have a big factor in longevity, otherwise the bag sitting on the side of the car, it my only last 6 - 12 months.

I have the foxwing as well & find it good,but also broke one of the nuckles.
Once i got the parts it was an easy fix.

The wind is what does it,must be tied down with all ropes at all times.
If you are on a windy beach you would have to use the best sand pegs available,& i would probably take it down at night just in
case one of the pegs worked it's way loose.

Apart from this small issue have found it very good,easy & simple to put up & down & a lot of shade,& if it is raining,good it covers the rear door.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder why 2 tent-poles and a tarp would not achieve the same result. All this could be had for about $30, and honestly, it might take an extra 5 minutes to put up, but is it really that much of a problem?

Used that method for years until I saw dullbird's awning in use and thought: Why am I doing this the hard way.

Went and bought a Hannibal Awning and love it. But still often end up with a tarp as any awning is only so big and tarp makes it easy to extend it.

We went to Fraser with another family with a awning which required separate poles and pegging out. Each time we stopped they looked on with envy as we had our awning up in 1 minute and they were still stuffing around after 5.

The poles are probably ok for stopping once a day, but the gunyah is quick enough to deploy for that morning tea stop or lunch if you can't find a tree.
