So it takes twice as long as the Hannibal to deploy:p

Yes it was considerably more and I was joking it takes about 1 minute too.
Actually a Hannibal Rack and Awning shipped in to Gove was cheaper than a lot of other combinations because Peter at Hannibal Safari could do a good freight deal and ship them as one item. Due to the size of the awnings this meant shipping an awning was going to be almost the same price as the roof rack if I'd bought separately.
One of the things you have to watch here:(
Dm Td5 how well do they hold up to rain. Mine still has hardly got wet. Being so flat they will pool badly. I was wondering if there is long term stretching if they do.
Obviously best to roll it up in case, but the day will come when it is needed to be up in rain.

Holds up very well but you do have to watch for pooling on the canvas. Ours has been through several very heavy storms now. You just have to stand up and give it a bump to empty out. Last really bad storm we ended up puting a pole up in t centre of the canvas to raise it enough. But that was also due to the water running off the tarp we had attached between our awning and another vehicle.
Didn't take long to sort that worry,
Just got back from a short camping trip. The drought ended. Absolutely bucketed down. We did need cover. Undid the velcro on one end, water flowed off that end beautifully with us still dry and no damage to the Hannibal.
Have now had it in heavy wind and rain. Very happy with how it held up in both.

Well scrap that idea, it must have been the angle I was parked. Have since been away camping again and yesterday on the beach in pouring rain.
Undid one side, but it never drained, had to push the water out every few minutes.
Still a lot of fun and very cosy. Eight of us sheltering under the Hannibal. Am going to look into walls for it to act as a windbreak.

Rhino Rack - Sunseeker Awning Fits Rhino Roof Racks
Anyone had any experience/knowledge of these?
I'm also interested in people's thoughts on the Sunseeker...
I wrote it off as too costly for now.. but have rhino's and like the idea a lot.
Mean time I got some spare rhino channel nuts from RFM 4x4 and a couple of brackets from bunnings and am running a nice big tarp with some poles. :D

--- edit ----
I just watched the Rhino Sunseaker awning setup video.. are these things ALL that cumbersome to set up? The unrolling looks really awkward. For some reason I thought they rolled up a bit like a roller blind!! Doesn't seem to be too much faster than my dodgy tarp job!
Actually thought it is cheap compared to a lot on the market.
