Mine is still going. Replaced the power switch as it was a bit hit and miss. Sometimes it would illuminate, sometimes it would decide to take a break.
They are definitely very sensitive to voltage drop. I ran a long lead to it from the camper and it wouldnt run. Got some thicker and shorter leads and it ran without fault for the whole long weekend.
Compressed air in a can might be alright but probably not from a compressor as it will most likely damage delicate bits. Plus the dust tend to be a bit sticky and needs to be wiped or brushed off - I use a small paint brush to remove the dust and vacuum it up.Quote:

my 60 ltr cenco fridge was bought on ebay for about $400. Is a year old and has had about 500 hrs use. never had a problem with it. Its runs at -18 and makes ice and keeps food frozen mostly when used. i use the ice it makes in a seperate esky. i run it off the cig lighter when driving once at camp i run it off 2x 150ah solar batterys at night (nothing more annoying than a genny running at night) then connect the 2 batterys to solar panels during the day and run the fridge off a generator. This system has worked fantastic for me for upto 5 days straight.
I did alot of research before buying and found the big expensive brands to be insanely priced. I also did not want a 3 way as everyone i spoke to that has one said they use alot of gas in very little time. My $400 fridge freezer has paid for its self on savings of buying ice alone.
While the performance of 3 ways varies and is generally not as good as compressor fridges I am afraid that everyone you spoke to is totally wrong as they are very good on gas use - in fact lasting a long time on little gas.Quote:

The thermistor in my waeco broke after about six years. Replaced it for less than $2 and now runs fine. I never turn it off now. It runs on an 80 watt solar panel and four second hand 25Ah SLA batteries. I think the thermistors last longer if the fridge is left on.Quote:

I agree, they work better on gas than 12/240V. They really only use a pilot light for the thermal siphon of the refrigerant so use very little gas.Quote:

mines still going but gets very little use.
