I bought a 45Engel for a 5 week trip to the Cape last July.
2 adult-2 kids, criovaced the meat, salads, dips, milk etc - plenty big enough if you manage your drinks (rotate your beer start 12 cans, one in-one out) and a reasonable size so it doesn’t take up to much room in the back.
We've had a 40 litre Waeco for many years, size is OK ( only two of us ) but if I had to buy a new one I'd get something slightly bigger. ( 47l engel maybe ). It just means you don't have to be quite as scientific with packing and unpacking, which can get tedious when on the road.
ive gone 2 30 something engles its usally me takeing most of the food when we have the familly out camping(uncles cousins ect) they work out well one as a frige and one as a frezer
We have the Waeco cf 60 and we have plenty of room, wife and one child for 2 weeks, i would not go any smaller it just becomes to difficulate to pack, bigger is better, we criovac (not sure of spelling) meals and meat, it lasts longer and it saves more room for the important things like beer.

I ended up buying the 45 litre Engel. Got a good workout on a recent 2 week holiday and some day trips. Very handy!!
It does seem to take quite a while to get cold though when it is empty but then seems to hold the temperature.
It seems to me to take hours to drag down to minus temps when empty even when on AC powers indoors. What time is roughly normal to drag the fridge down to -18 when empty?
I really good buy .New they are 1200 bucks..in white and 1000bucks in yellow.The yellow has different insulation-not as good ,hence it being cheaper.Quote:
