good day to all. i am in the process of trying to mate a 4BD1 or a 4Jb1t to my Lt95. unfortunately the machine shops over here (manila,Philippines) are not that inclined to do so, since there are very few rovers over here.
do you guys care to share some of the fabricating tips? thanks
The 4BD1 was available in the Stage I, Series III and 110's here between 1980 and 1989 or so, mated up to the LT95 so the bellhousings, etc are available in Australia.Quote:

Off on a bit of tangent here, but I can pick up a local Disco 1 with a blown motor for around AU$3000 (that's quite cheap over here....).
It has the ZF auto: is there any way to fit the 4BD1T to this gearbox?
What other motor would be a good option?
LR 300TDi and TD5s are expensive here.
Maybe something like the Nissan FD35T?

LT95s are like chicken teeth here: we really didn't get a lot of early 80s One Tens and Defenders.

Does the R380 also hate the Isuzu? Ignition pulses I assume?
I have had an R380 behind a 4BD1T for three years now - the vehicle works extremly hard in remote parts of the country - the gearbox has stood up extremely well and iinternal ratios are very well suited to the Isuzu power and torque characteristics.Quote:

As for "torque pulses" problems arising from an Isuzu 4BD1(T) - my engine is substantialy smoother than the Tdi, the gearbox is much quieter at low revs/full load than with the Tdi - I am of the opinion that the concerns have more to do with the theoretical than with observed results, and therefore not really a matter of concern.
