No. this isn't an attempt for the record off-topic post.
I was chatting to a fellow the other day who reckons I have something quite rare and sought after. He thinks I have some very early RRC steel rims as opposed to early RRC steel rims. The tell tale proof apparently is this stamp.DSCF0857.jpg
OK. It's a bit hard to see.
The stamped bit is: the dunlop symbol "1240R" "16x6 K 33" "NRC 3283" "F4C"
Do any of the rivet counter know what the significance of this stamp is? not all my wheels are stamped in this way.

not only that but you have the soft wheel studs you cant put mag wheels on by the looks of it...
but it aint that clear a pic so i reserve the right to be full of it...

You're quite correct. The mag wheel studs are on the other side. Remember, this one is a bitsa. Three of the wheels are stamped as described in the previous post. Are these rims worth saving (perhaps a rivet counter may want them). Quit right. It's a Maxi Drive (or so I am lead to believe).
But what about the wheels? Are they important to a pureist or are they as common as muck?
Is the fellow who tells me he knows everything there is to know about Range Rovers on the money or is he living in his own delusional world?

SubscriberWell I am not a restorer, but my observation is that few restorers in OZ are restoring old Rangies at this stage. If you put them in the garage for 10 years they may be worth something.But what about the wheels? Are they important to a pureist or are they as common as muck?
They only have value to be used in a concours restoration IMHO.

Part number NRC3283 are the later steel wheels with 70mm centre hole which can take the same plastic cap which fits the 3 spoke mags, came out around 1980, so common as muck, the older wheels have a 60mm centre hole and getting a bit more rare.

I just did an audit of my RRC rims.
I have two of the common as muck rims and three of the older 60mm ones.
