McNamara do an air locker for rover diffs too, haven't heard much about them though.
Hi All,
I am starting to look at locker options - I have looked at the diff thread in the good oil so hence this thread.
My diff's are Dico 2 diff's so I am also not sure if this is the best place even tho they are attached to my RRC.
Also I have Maxi drive axles 24SP all round.
ARB - I have been informed they have changed who is actually making the diff's & they are having alot of problems - also issues with air lines, which could be fixed with better airlines - leaves me thinking they may not be my best choice.
TJM - Don't do them for my diff's
Maxi Drive - not made anymore
Sal's - big diff & exxy $$$$ so not really a option I want to go with
KAM - from LRA - not really sure on this one as it does require mods to the diff housing (Another place to leak oil?) and it is an electronic engagement which means wiring down to the diff & in to the diff housing via a bung - which will wear in time & concerns me for water crossings
Any other makers I can look at?>??![]()

What are the options with standard running gear? or do you have to upgrade?
Had the RD56 air lockers with jack mac axles in my comp truck (2 door RR) years ago and they were OK but still had issues with bloody air leaks etc. I am now using KAM lockers, as I didnt like the way the air line on the RD128 air locker runs over the CW. LRA fitted the locker and I did all the wiring myself, nothing to it. I have used them a few times in anger and love them. I was a bit skeptical about the KAM stuff as well but thought why not give them a go. I went away up the high country a few weeks back and a mate lost the use of his rear air locker (RD56s) due to a big air leak at the olive on the bulk head fitting & if you loose the rear locker due to a big air leak you will also not be able to use the front. The KAM stuff has been great. your welcome to have a look see if you want as Im local to you.
Cheers Gavin
Gavin,
Yes I would love to - and ask you about the twin snorkles + setup with the 4.6 as I am wondering what do with mine![]()
Seems like the KAM is the way to go then.
Cheers,
Chris
Never had a problem with ARB.
i have got jack mcnamara diff locks and shafts front and rear in my rangy ute comp truck
never had any problems.
I believe j mac builds the TJM locks so thought they would do landy ones.

Have ARB in rear of Prado, used it a lot and never had a problem with it.
Heard about airline probs, compressor dramas, etc etc but they are also the most popular locker so % wise the faults are probably very few and far between.
Recently got KAM in rear of disco. No way would I attempt to install it, cost megabucks for LRA to do it for me. However it works faultlessly so far. Team rovercraft recently hammered their new KAM lockers in WA, they were VERY happy with the performance of them, and the 8mm thick aluminium pans. Don't need a diff protector with the KAM locker, so save a couple hundred there.
If you go ARB you get the compressor under bonnet which is great for airing up, less hassle than portable compressor. They are pretty quick compressors too for the small size of them.
Only one member of team rovercraft runs a Kam locker. I run a Detroit locker in the rear diff and an ARB in the front of my rovercraft range rover. The other mebers run either ARB front and back or macnamara diff locks
I have found the detroit locker fantastic to drive with both on and off road. don't need to rember to flick a switch no air lines to snag or leak wich has happened to my front diff
just my 2c
cheers Ian
