New Member 3rd time Classic owner
Hi everyone,
I am a new member here. Bit about myself, I have had a 76 2door shooting rig and an 83 4door daily driver some years ago and have just last week stepped into a 93 Vogue SE. The nicest Rangie I have owned by far! Just a pity it isn't a 2 door, I have a thing for 2 door looks!
After looking at a few postings I have managed to fix up the electric seat contol for the drivers seat, fix vacuum leaks on the cruise control and from a bit of driving remember how thirsty Classics are. 20l/100km on my first conservative tank.
The only things that are not working now are the heater which has been disconnected and the air con. There is a sticker under the bonnet saying R134 dye (? from memory) but the compressor says R12. Either way it's not working, anyone got any sure fire tips about what to do/not do for the air and the heater?
Also my rear demister isn't working but the strips on the window all look fine and the fuses are ok...any hints?
Thanks for a great forum!
Richard.

Heater core disconnection could be due to leak, air con could be pricey but worth it, my old one I had to get new compressor and two hoses. No big deal though, trick is to keep them moving and lubricated even during winter.
Electric seats call TRS and see if they have spare parts.
Nice leather seats with electrics are well worth it I found.
While at it, get the radiator flushed and do tranny fluid.
Could save some big $$ later.
Good luck and all the best.

Post 1989 heater cores are Aluminium with plastic tanks. They have a habit of cracking and leaking. You will probably find it has been bypassed.
Aircon could be as simply as one of more leaking hoses. If its still the original compressor the front seal is probably stuffed. Most Rangies 20 years or older tend to have corroded Condensers. My 89 Model has been through 2 compressors, several hoses, several dryers, and a new condenser.
Not sure about the 93 model but because it draws heaps of current, it will only work with the engine running. So if it doesn't work even with the engine running it will most probably have a cracked solder joint where the wire connect to the screen.
