    Cool Speedo Died - 91rrc - electronic or ??

On the way home from work tonight I hit cruise control as per normal - but when I did it turned it self off, speedo died to nothing & it seems the tacho also stopped.

So I pulled over on the freeway & restarted the old girl, tacho all ok - no speedo tho. everything else ok.

So... I am wondering if this problem would be electronic or a speedo cable??
Where is the speedo cable located?

I had a quick look over the other threads for speedo's going dead but thought I should ask the question here before I go looking for things that won't be there

Just to be confusing, I believe that they are both. They are cable from the transfer case to a sender type unit which is located under the passengers seat near the chassis, from here it is changed to be electronic up into the instrument panel. Well thats how my 90 model rangie is but I don't have cruise control if that makes any different to the setup. There is a voltage unit in the dash board that can also affect things.

Yes the speedo on all 3.9 from 89 on is electronic, and the speed transducer feeds the speedo and the 14CUX for idle control and injector shut off.
Any high quality cruise control should also be fed from the speed transducer although some DIY ones may feed from magnets on teh driveshaft.
AFAIK the tacho has nothing to do with the speedo so maybe look at the instrument fuses.

    Thanks for the help guys.

I checked all fuses today and found no fault.
As it is the vogue I thought the cruise control may have been factory.

The mention of the 14CUX - I am guessing that is ECU??

My plan for tomorrow is to try & track wiring & make sure all wiring is ok for it & go from there... or should I start somewhere else??

    Cheers

lol I wll... just will want to clean her up a bit lol
He will be doing some seals for me as soon anyway. I know he wasn't too impressed with the dings in the drivers side from being slammed in to a channel lol but I got paint made up for it so it will be sprayed soon

Just picked her up from Mr Greg at AMV - Awesome service as always!

Turns out the cable going to the speed transender box snapped & caught it self up inside the transender box - doh!
