610, it will break. Why not use a A727 torqueflyte? They are fitted to 1984/5 RRC, bolts straight up to the LT230, and no mods req for those torque numbers.

Hi guy's,
Just joined up and wanted to know if anyone has built the ZFHP22 to handle lots of torque? I've heard of the Ashcroft dude in England building them with HP24 bits but is this enough and can more be done?
I have a '93 Vogue and want to fit a 351 and I would prefer to just adapt to the existing trans rather than changing to another type. I have already converted to an LT230T transfer box.
The 351 will produce around 450lb/ft(610Nm)
Cheers,
Pete.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
if the engine will make 610Nm its going to come down to your TC selection.
IMHO the ZF22 is about on its limits with 500Nm coming off of the crank with the standard range of torque converters.
If you were to put in a low stall low multiplication TC and set the box up to lock the TC Lock up clutch earlier on you might getaway with it.

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
The ZF4HP22 and ZF4HP22EH is rated by ZF to 380Nm, the ZF4HP24EH is rated by ZF to about 480-490NM

Tapered roller set would be nice one day. The stock LT 95 that came with my POS had done at least 300,000 with the 350 in front of it before I put the Ritters combo in. Including driving 1000+ k's with the centre diff locked accidentally. Was still ok when I pulled it out.
cheers, DL
Thanks Lads,
Ok, I want to stay with a 4 spd auto.
What diameter converter does/can the ZF use?
What determines converter lock with this hyd box?
Anyone in the Perth area got an old ZF kickin around that I can play with?....
If not to build stronger I can at least check the dimensions and see if I can adapt a Ford 4 spd auto to the transfer?
Pete.
Hi,
If you really want a strong 4 speed and have bucks have a look around this site at the 4L boxes and options:
Wholesale Automatic Transmissions
I find a 3 speed (that can be bullet proofed / rebuilt for under a grand) just fine in my POS. Bigger motors don't need as many ratios, but each to their own.
cheers, DL
Not worth the effort, unless you like spending lots of coin for a less than desirable result![]()
