Thanks Mike, I'll try that. I already cleaned the throttle butterfly & as much of the body as I could with throttle body/carby cleaner... maybe it needs some more? It was pretty black in there, but it's been about 6 weeks since I did that.
Hook up the multi meter and just lightly "flick" the throttle open / close .. to see if the volts vary in the closed position (it's in the closed position that is giving you grief)
Other than that .... give the whole throttle system and hoses a good internal clean ... including the "flame trap can" on the drivers side rocker cover (unscrew and wash in Kero)
Manually hold open the throttle butterfly and clean all internal sides & edges
Cheers
Mike

Took my still misbehaving Rangie over to meet bacicat200 & he very kindly soldered in a wire so my tacho would work which it now does
We also did some troubleshooting on her and ended up taking the top off the airflow meter and adjusted the black nylon gearwheel back about 135°... now I have a slightly fast idle but she doesn't die now when I put her in gear, and the rough running has almost gone.
I have booked her into LRA on the 12th, but am really pleased at the difference adjusting the airflow meter made- I no longer have to pop her in Neutral at junctions etc
Just like to thank you all for the help, but especially Gav
Cheers,
Dave
Dropped her off at LRA yesterday...
They set the fuel mixtures, reset the timing and set the idle speed and did some general diagnostics on her.
Drove nicely on the way home
I was only charged $100 too which I thought was awesome.
I've pestered Andrew @ LRA a few times and he's always been very helpful. He was also very keen for me to let him know how the Rangie went.
Cheers,
Dave
(Another happy LRA customer)
Great news. Has the missus upgraded her opinion of it yet - Started at 'Lemon' moved onto 'Tank', now what? Would 'Awesome piece of British engineering' be pushing it...?
Cheers - Gav.
