Sounds like I got ripped off with a $300+ retest.

They vary in price a lot, especially as the price of petrol varies each year. You pay whatever or waste hours tracking one down. There's one in Vic now for $350:
LPG Manifold Tank with 10 year cetification (eBay item 120648621821 end time 24-Nov-10 19:51:18 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats
And there's a complete D1 gas system with one of these tanks:
APA Impco complete car gas system Landrover Discovery (eBay item 170566547343 end time 22-Nov-10 17:36:14 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats
So if you are not in a hurry there's plenty of stuff around.
I have bought a few from our local pick-a-part wrecker, (U-Pull-It) they are usually out the back and you have to ask to see them. Their price is $110 each and you have to inspect them closely as they are rough buggers and drag them across concrete and drop them if they can. But if you get a good one you can save a D1/RRC owner absolutely heaps, so it's all good in the end.
Thanks for the links to those two auctions bee utey. I got in contact with the seller of the complete kit from a disco. Would have been good only no courier that I spoke to will touch a second hand gas tank...'dangerous goods'.
Keep looking locally.
Thinking about liquid injection now... LPGas1 says that they will have their own Australian made system on the market early next year for the same cost as vapour injection.
By the by I spoke to a fellow today with a twin turbo diesel V8 Sport. My suggestion is that if you are prone to be envious....Don't ask about how well they go...
Liquid injection (as currently sold in Oz by Orbital Autogas Systems) involves specially engineered gas tanks, as they have to include internal pressure pumps to maintain the liquid LPG column. So don't run out and get a second hand manifold tank! It won't be any use for a liquid LPG installation.
Considering how much pressure is rattling around in the fuel system of a liquid injection system in hot conditions, I'll stick to vapour injection installs for now. I want to see a few aftermarket kits on the road before I endorse this stuff.
