the 300 seems to be accepted as "easy" ( ha ive done coversions on toyota's not as easy as thought when starting.) but can the td5 or v6 diesel be reignited by a stand alone computor for those of us still silly enough to want to modify rather than sell. chris

Off topic a bit... but I quite like that...calling the series 1 Disco a Land-Rover Pajero. Just look at the shape of the roof and back door and compare to the First and second generation Mitsi Paj.
At least the Rangie is unique, being the only car I know of where the body was designed by real 'engineers' and not poncy stylists. They just make the alloy sheets to cover the steel frame, simple and elegant, bolted and pop-riveted together.
Maybe thats the instinctive attraction for us.

Ive been thinking about the easy option of a disco my father has had a 2002 td5 from new and its a good drive but i dont know if I could close my eyes every time I approach my own just to avoid looking at the roof line, the rangie is so much better (to me) as its shape is simple and functional, I know its beig soft but the ride from the air suspension is also something my family wont surrender

Thats interesting... as I'm actually a bit disappointed in the ride of the EAS, both the genuine LR and the Arnotts bags. - Simply not as supple or soft as the '88~89 Classic that I was towing with. Mind you, the 'Vogue is more stable at speeeeed.
As I have'nt been off-road in the Rangie, - have to save up to pay for the fuel to get there! I have no opinion as to which is better riding in the rough.
Anyway, I drive my car from the inside...and only the view OUT the windsceen affects me.... - Not my problem as to what it looks like to others... :D

the looks arn't the only problem a shed with 8 falcons a bundera a subaru has caused a little heat from the other half, as these arn't the cars we drive (add 3) so to buy a disco would mean surrendering reg(not happening) and giving up on the 2005 rangie im trying to convice the better half I need rather than just want

I have the Isuzu 4BD1T, this is the 3.9 litre. A very good engine but you need to upgrade the gearbox at the same time.
A 300tdi would be the easiest conversion.
Hi my RRC started off as a v8 and now has a nissan 3.5L 4cyl diesel, direct injection turbo non intercooled. Gets 11L per 100 easy, has much more power than the orginal v8. R380 box. Its out of a cabstar. I plan to get it tuned and add an intercooler.
