Mine was exactly the same but I also had a mechanical oil pressure gauge which confirmed low oil pressure when it got up to running temp. My short term fix was to keep the revs up at the lights which kept oil pressure up, them when I changed the oil I went for a higher viscosity which helped a bit as well.
Long term solution was to stuff a new engine into it - all fixed now.
I think a new oil pump would have got me a bit more time, and I still have that engine as a spare, but replacing it gave me the opportunity to upgrade a few other things as well.
