Davo - I have Penrite 20/60 in my ranga and after lots of thought dont think thats the issue. I got a feeling that its soooo much more likely "suburban wiring put through bush testing"! I'm going to find a new oil sender and try that on my flickering oil light first up, have a look at the wiring when I install it and hope all the way that I don't have to get lost chasing those flimsy little wires through to the dash.
- can you advise a good supplier for an RRC oil pressure sender?
I use these guys a lot, but at any rate here's the part number:

Mine was exactly the same but I also had a mechanical oil pressure gauge which confirmed low oil pressure when it got up to running temp. My short term fix was to keep the revs up at the lights which kept oil pressure up, them when I changed the oil I went for a higher viscosity which helped a bit as well.
Long term solution was to stuff a new engine into it - all fixed now.
I think a new oil pump would have got me a bit more time, and I still have that engine as a spare, but replacing it gave me the opportunity to upgrade a few other things as well.
The oil pressure switch died on mine too. They are readily available through rover parts in ballarat. Fortunately mine died as I pulled into the drive (dunno what I'd done if I was miles from home.... As there is no way you can actually verify it's just the switch unless you have a working gauge fitted).Quote:

My experiance with flickering oil pressure lights (in non landrovers) is the sender is usually dripping when you check it. I've also heard stories of the centers blowing out of the oil pressure switches leading to the entire sump being pumped onto the ground in a heartbeat (in that case the oil pressure light probably doesn't come on as the sender is no long attached to an earth).
