ok no problem, I call it the pickup module and that module does adjust with the vacuum advance link as stated.
Vacuum advance rod is engaged, and read 3,170 ohms with dissy pickup wires so assume thats good. PhillipA is kindly dropping by this afternoon so will update later.
Thanks PhillipA for dropping by this afternoon. We confirmed the spark is good and my setup is alright with leads<tdc etc. We believe there is still an issue with the distributor but its still was throwing a decent spark at the plugs. Next is to replace plugs again and test again as there is plenty of fuel. Will get a compression test gauge and check cylinders. Then its on to the injectors. Phillip suspects injectors may be stuck open.
The saga continues.
I have sent you several emails with thoughts I have had.
IT is probably wise to go through the L jetronic troubleshooting guide, and particularly check the earths , as the old injection can do strange things with bad earths.

Hi guys, tested compression on No 2,4 and 6 so far as that was the side that was redhot when last running. all were reading around 150. Is this about what they should be? I will check others during the week when I have more time to play around. Compression gauge is a hand held not a screw in so compression may actually be a bit higher than what was read.
150PSI is perfect.
No luck with start yet?

Not yet Phil, I will be going thru the injector information you sent and see what happens after that. Thanks for your assistance.
By the way, as far as I can see there is no place for a screw to lock in the shaft of the distributor. The stem that comes from the base of the distributor is sold and has a small solid head on it (this shaft has the base plate and two posts for the weights to go on).The rotor shaft then fits over this and there is no screw position/thread inside that. The ony thing is a small ledge inside the shaft where a thick rubber ring sits and where the head of the internal stem referred above fits in. This seems to be the only way (other than thru the weight spring attachment)that the rotor shaft is physically held to the inner shaft before the pickup base plate is screwed down.
Maybe my distributor is missing some internal sleeve from the inner shaft that has a securing screw thread on it?
Well dang me you are correct. The 1992 dizzy does have a screw but I just had a look at the new ERR1810 (Disco 3.5 2 pin module) I have and it has a rivet.
