Maybe the plugs of several of the injectors are wet.

played with the rangie (3.9 injected '94) after having the top hose explode. full details - tensioner pulley bearing failed no warning or noise, belt come off, engine boiled, top hose exploded in process destroyed under bonnert liner pulled off 3 spark plug leads and tore a vacuum tee in two. all fixed on side of road, wouldn't run on petrol for the rest of the trip (duel fuel at the moment) now is running perfect on gas but has a huge dead spot on petrol. the fact that it is running fine on lpg leads me to think that the issue is related to fuel delivery as lpg running discounts the ignition side of the engine. p.s. not using coolant on 380klm trip home any sugestions for starting point, also does anyone know where to get a pulley for tensioner its 85mm (thinking of always having a spare)

I'ld unplug - replug and check all connections and do the runaround checking for electrical pulses with a multi meter .... Also, pull the connection plug to the MAF and see if it runs better ....
You could have fried an injector also ....
Good replacement is ..... Bosch GEN 111 19lb
I bought a set from these guys before ....

thnks for that, ive seen a tester for injectors in the past may try to find one of these to putr in line. chris
At that price...with better driveability, its almost worth buying a set for 'just in case'
You're looking for a petrol-item that's sensitive to heat or moisture... (Everything electrical !!!!)
An Injector test light (LED) will prove the point...
What voltage are the injectors fed with ? Could make up a unit with a LED and resistor plus some stiff wire....
still sorting, good thing the discovery is in the driveway for monday to friday. tossing up starting to pull the old girl down and start the 4.6 change as rego runs out in feb and that was the plan for then. I just feel better knowing the old girl is healthy if the desire to go bush hits me. do the injectors listed fit straight in or is there fiddling required
G`day ,
on petrol does it idle and does it rev above the flat spot as normal ?
Did it take the leads off the dist or the plug ?
Did the belt get the airbox and was the pipe work off ?
The hose may have been crook or the cap on the bottle maybe .
Hmmm. I have a set of second hand but cleaned Blah blah Bosch Gen111 Yellows in my 3.9.do the injectors listed fit straight in or is there fiddling required
While it is almost a plug n play, you have to add another O ring to the bottom , above the normal oring as they do not have provision for a clip at the top. They can slip down far enough to pop off the rail.
The GEN11 injectors have a clip. I took off a set of gen11 injectors(pink) which I bought new and have about 110KK on them. They were seamless.
I am assured by the ebay sellers that gen11 and gen111 are functionally identical, both with 4 holes and that only the construction is different.
I have a bit of a worry with the gen111s in that the car is very rich on start up, and actually flooded on me for the first time in 11 years when I tried a restart after only 1 minute from a cold start. And that is with a brand new dizzy, Bosch amplifier unichip and magnacore plug leads and Iridium plugs
Now I have o2 sensors so as soon as they heat , they will take out excess fuel and so then the old girl runs properly, but I wonder about how they go without o2 sensors.
So I would recommend Bosch Gen11 injectors which will clip in place and seem to be a bit leaner than the Gen111 yellows, although both were fitted to the same engine in the states ( ford 4.6) and both are available on ebay. However my gen11s were new and the gen111s are "reconditioned" so it may be that they are not as reconditioned as they should be and are drooling.
I am considering having my gen11s cleaned and refitting them.

All tho philip speaks of his experience with this injector, mine went like this ......
The injectors fit straight in ... plug n play .... (Just as per thread I posted)
However .... I had no need for an extra O ring ... I pushed the injector all the way down to the bottom of the manifold and then installed the fuel rail and all was good. (I believe that Philip uses a Thor manifold on his 3.9 ///// maybe this is the difference of issue of length?)
I did inspect the fuel rail securing plate tags were correctly bent 90 degrees, so as to gain a close as possible space between rail and manifold
The Top O ring sits low (near the end) in the fuel rail and seals OK ... I started the motor and shone a torch at all injectors to ensure no leaks ... One did weep, but a twist of the injector left n right, settled that O ring.
I suffer no over-fueling nor flooding. The motor starts on the first turn of the key and idles fantastic
I have done this to 2 cars and I know of 3 others that have done it
The ride in those photos (of the link) is still in my shed.
One thing I did notice while finding you a link for injectors, is there appears to be a new Gen 4 advertised, that apparently supersedes Gen 3 ..... More research ...
