Broken RRC

Ok I have done a bit more trouble shooting.
I drained the TC fluid and removed the inspection hatch.
Everything looks perfect no teeth missing and other than a tiny bit of metal powder on the drain plug all looks ok.
I refilled with 80w90 gear oil and took it for another run.still no joy, stuck in low
I removed the centre console and drilled the rivets to access the top linkages
I soaked them in wd40 and now with a bit of a wiggle from R to D and back to N I can select high. The problem is something in high is holding the vehicle back.i can move forward and back but I need to apply a lot of power to do this.it will not roll down a hill in high and neutral,but will roll fine in low and neutral.
I have lifted each wheel with the jack (in low) and can move them but with some resistance and they turn both props and the handbrake drum.
That's about it as far as my knowledge goes.
Am I missing something obvious or is there something else I can do to help determine the problem?
In the meantime I'm off to find a cold beer

Mmmm your centre diff is not engaged i hope 'sounds like wind up maybe , Disengage centre diff and reverse a bit

Just had something similiar with a LT230 , appeared that the CDL was staying engaged no matter what or where the Hi-lo or CDL was placed. Twas the old snapped spider shaft and rear spider gear had split in two and was jamming the rest , therfore locking up the whole center diff. Suggest you jack up the Front wheel and see if you can spin it .

Turns out it was windup all along.
I read a post on one of the pommy forums about a guy who had similar problems,after putting a spare tyre on the car with much more tread than the others.
I swapped out my newer one for the old racing slick and took a lap of my block in reverse and she's back to perfect.
I took her for a 20 minute run with no issues so I'm hoping that all stays well and no permanent damage was sustained.
I can select between high and low and CDL easily now
So I have learned a couple of things with this saga
1- An Lt230 runs on gear oil not ATF
2- Make sure all wheels and tyres are the same with full time 4x4's
I have a set of 4 32 inch muddies to go on the truck and I will now be getting a fifth as a proper spare as I don't want this to happen far from home.
3- An iPhone is the best tool you can have for fixing problems with motor vehicles. The answer is always out there in Internet land somewhere.

Jeeze mate, You sound a bit deflated there ...

...but only on the bottom...:p

So it was still locked in 4WD.!!! There is little orange light down on the Radio console on tne left hand side . You telling me that this light was not illuminated ?, therefore indicating that it was,was not still in Locked 4WD , Did you even know that this light indicated that the CDL is engaged ? Get the Light fixed otherwise read the operations manual before you do a **** load more damage !! Uneducated nut loose behing steering wheel !!

Yes I'm telling you that the light was not illuminated.
I drive local tracks and the beach most weekends and it has worked flawlessly
When it locked up on the freeway no light and the cdl lever was to the right.It showed zero indication that something was wrong including driving around roundabouts and tigh car spaces when it should have chirped
The light only started to work again properly yesterday once I changed back to the original rim.
This is my fifth rover over a space of 15 years so I'm not a complete muppet.
