    starter motor for classic

    Hi all,

I have a 1990 classic which needs a new starter. It has the 3.9 motor with a 4l block

I have a 1988 classic for parts with the 3.5 injected motor,

will the 3.5 starter motor fit the 1990 model car?

    thanks all,

    Hi ,

yes it should , they are all interchangeable up to the P38a , there may be a slight difference in the wiring but just wire as the one it`s going in .

Only suggestion i`d make is check it on the bench first and take note of the condition of the drive teeth .

If they are both reduction drive and one says lucas and one says marrelli you`ll find they are as good as the same thing and parts interchange .

thanks for that, they checked out ok,

only wiring difference is that RR I took the good starter motor off had about 3 extra wires.

Works fine. It has slight differences in apearance but seems to work fine.

    thanks for the info
