    Injector questions

    G'day guys

I took the injectors out of the 88 Rangey today only to discover the replacement ones i had purchased were slightly shorter? does this matter?

Also the top of the injector seems a little thicker than the ones that were in there. making them impossible to use the same fuel hose with the top rubber o ring. should i take off the top o ring and use a hose clamp?

    Any suggestions from experience?

You have the wrong injectors - your originals are 'tailed' - the new ones are for a plug in fuel rail.

    EFI Hose Connections

CAREFULLY using a dremel remove the hardened rubber from around the metal collar of your old ones, and the collar comes off, revealing the barbed 'tail'.
Then you can use ordinary EFI hose to replace the 'tail'. (Re use the collar).
Measure the old pieces of rubber and cut replacements accordingly as the fuel rail needs to sit right. About a metre should cover everything from the metal in/out ends at the firewall and a hose cutter is very handy.

It's reasonably easy job - just fiddly.

Relax - I imagine that there are plenty of members who would like a set of new injectors for their Rangie or Disco.

To get your RRC back on the road, EFI hose ( and it's got to be EFI rated) is available most everywhere including Super c wrap.

If they physically fit your engine they should be fine. Try them and see.

They're good to go- whilst the nose of the injector is a little shorter, it won't matter as long as the barrel fits in the injector hole. Just be careful (As I can't tell from the photo) if you have to trim the tail. Too long, and the rail won't sit properly - to short and it's a PITA.

this maybe be a silly question and the only reason im asking it is because i asked the company i purchased them off to supply bottom o ring washers and they didnt, from memory the old injectors didnt have rubber o rings they were more like a rubber sleeve, so they wont fit these injectors

does that mean they dont require any o rings or that they are lazy?

    regards
