thanks for all the replys guys
whats involved in swaping the 3 bolt for a 4 bolt?
same steering column? same track rod?
cheers, andy
Don't waste your time with 3-bolt PAS boxes, get a 4-bolt, they are much stronger. If you get one from a D2 it likely won't need a rebuild. Otherwise it will cost you ~$1000.

well that sounds like the way to go then.
anybody know the thread sizes? im guessing they would be taperd threads.
any difference between the disco 1 and disco 2 boxes?

BRAND NEW ADWEST 4Bolt including drop arm and tie rod end cost me about $650 landed a few weeks ago from LR Direct. This price included new rubber brake lines so about $600 landed.
IMHO it is worth it to get the drop arm as they are a bugger to remove and fit , especially fit so they don't come loose.
I personally would not touch a reco unit as you really do not know what the shaft is like and how"reco" it is. Funnily when new boxes were $1200 , reco was $7-800 . Now new ones are $600 , reco is $400. Must have been easy money back then.

philip, that sounds exactly what im looking for! just went onto lr direct and they only deal in part numbers, and since im still eagerly awating the delivery of my rave cd, do you know the part number? is there any diference in the 4 bolt boxes or are they all the same?
cheers andy
The part number I ordered was QAF500110 at GBP 299.98.
There was even a little confusion with part numbers as the listing they had for RRcs was a reco unit.
But this was a NEW unit with drop arm.
