i hope this doesn't get deleted, but what is the big deal with announcing in the thread that you have something for sale? it is relevant to the thread and people don't always go straight to the market to buy something, i don't get it
its not even for sale, if nat was interested in it i was going to ask said mate if he wants to part with it as it just sits there gathering dust. IF nats not interested, i won't ask my mate.
ok chev is back on!!!!!!!!!
it is now the decsionas to what gearbox. He really wants a manual but I think this is a bad choice to due RRC boxs are weak. SO its now an auto. T400 or t700 would be there go!
has people found adaptors for these cars to be hard or is there any pit falls we should look out for. We are doing the work ourselves.
Oh he is running twin maxi drive filled diffs.
Cheers NAT
If auto then look around for a Ritters conversion C4 or C9 LT 95 combo. 3 speed and can be built strong for SFA. They are around for not much $$.
That's what I have behind my 350. You will need an adapter plate (chev to LT 95) and a custom torque convertor ($ 500) but it will be strong.
Pulled a bogged Ranger and trailer full of sheep out of a bog today so easily in high range it was a real surprise to the Ranger owner.
cheers, DL
Ritter did a T400 to LT95 as well. A mob in Skye called Rovercentre did T700 to LT95 adapters, works quite well, i've had a couple of these. Marks does T400 to LT230. Tebone off here made his own T700 to LT230 adapter, front driveshaft is the issue i think, not sure what he did to get around it.
Or The Grubb off here does the LT230 to Isuzu MXA kit, can't see why this couldn't be adapted to a chev without to much hassle.![]()
What about a 727 Torqueflite? Still very strong, fairly common, and I'm pretty sure I've seen Chevy adaptors on some US sites. You would want a later LT230T since there are a couple of parts NLA for the LT230R the 727 originally came with.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
Hi Guys, I did make my own I used a range rover smaller tail shaft yoke I think it was of my old 2 door. I also ground the transmission flange at the back so the yoke would clear I took it back to the threaded hole.
I love the conversion especially the t700 with the lock converter which is locked automatically by a vaccuum switch and locked manually in 2,3,4 gears. Very good first gear and takes off quickly and a very good overdrive. 4wd in the bush low first is very low you don't have to ride your brakes.
It has been reliable.
transfer sits back 55mm but handbrake drum still misses the floor.
