Mate , that looks like a Yankee (LHD) 4.2 LSE engine bay , not many around these parts ! fitting a Clevo or a Windsor ?
G'day folks,
Anyone got one of these airboxes and can take some measurements for me?
I'm hoping I can modify it to take my 80mm MAF I'll use on my 351? Is there enough area to enlarge the box for an 80mm opening?.....

Yep it's a U.S. Disco one in the pic but as Scouse said...they're a soft dash '94-5 RRC piece locally and therefore likely to also be used in similar year Disco's.

Righto went to wreckers on Saturday and the girl showed me her er, a box and there's not enough space to fit my MAF unfortunatelylooks like I'll mod a Falcon airbox to fit maybe.
Cheers lads.
Have you looked at a VR/VS Commodore airbox? The MAF's were mounted to these, and they are an easy fit into the Rangie - I have just used one in mine. The 3.9 MAF on mine is only 75mm, but there is a rubber boot from the airbox to the MAF on the Commodore airbox that was a tad too big for mine, and I had to wind the clamp in a fair way to get it to seal - it may just be big enough for what you are after.

You mean like this?....

I don't like the look of it. Seems like quite a lot of modifying to make it fit.
That flanged area looks promising though. My MAF is 80mm I.D. and about 90mm I.D. at the opening then there is a big flange with, of course, an even bigger bolt pattern.
I'll have close look at one though, thanks bacicat.
Yeah, like that, but mounted the other way around - I'll go and take a pic, as there is less to modify, and I needed to cut mine anyway to bring the RAI in. The standard opening is right next to the second battery.

Please note that this is not bolted in in the pics, so it looks a bit crooked.
This shows the orientation of the box.
This one shows what I had to cut out to make it fit. I will be fibreglassing this into an inlet for the RAI, and blocking off the front original opening as it is hard up against the second battery.
Side view of MAF install.
Shot of opening and measurement of box face if you needed to open this up.
This is the opening of the rubber boot that connects the MAF to the airbox. It would be a bit small for you I think - comes in at about 85 to 88mm ID.
If you get stuck with everything else, I think the face on the airbox would be big enough to modify for your needs, and when I have this all bolted in, it should look quite neat. Flow rate of the Commodore air filter should be fine, as this was used on the V8's as well (but not quite as big as yours)
Cheers - Gav
