    Bonnet letter removal

Time to have the bonnet of the 77 resprayed and would like to be prepared and complete the job in a day. The question is, is it possible to remove and replace the bonnet letters using the existing fasteners or are new fasteners required? Are genuine required or are they a fairly standard type fastener?

So you've got the ones that are actually bolted onto the bonnet? I would say they are pretty rare these days as the factory found out that they led to rust, so they started using the stickers instead. I'd take the letters off first and see what state the bonnet is in before planning the next move.

Yep fixed through the bonnet, but luckily no rust. I've just gone on a spending splurge and ordered some retainers from the UK, $16 all up.

All good, then. You don't see many older ones like that.
