Someone will no doubt have a better idea than me, but raising compression by shaving the heads is a pretty bad idea, as I doubt you'll have enough thickness there to run it up to 9.5 without running into troubles; such as the inlet manifold not fitting properly, and maybe the valves touching the pistons.

Much easier to buy high comp pistons.

Why the stage 1 cam ?

If the RRC is to be a road machine OK but for off road you'll get more power at higher revs but the power band is lifted as well.

Put a stage 1 cam in my RRC several years ago when the lobes wore off the old one, and for off road driving it was a major mistake. It's no good having a power band starting at 3000 rpm and going as high as you like when you need performance at 2500 rpm. I'd have been better off with a cam giving less power but starting at lower revs. A cam that emulated a diesel would have been perfect.

IMO the stage 1 cam made both on and off road 'drivability' worse. A bad decision.

Hopefully this attachment will work. It shows how much you can take off an older head, so you can use that as your reference.
