My guess would be yes - have you pulled them both out and had them sitting side by side to see if there are any physical differences? They are easy to get out. Someone should be along soon for a definitive answer.![]()
Hi guys, I've been searching for info on brake boosters. I have a 85 classic with a leak comming from the rear of the brake booster in the cabin. I also have an 89 parts car. Can I use the booster from the 89 on the 85?

If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
85 and EARLY 89 should be the same, BUT there was a change about then, do the master cylinders look the same? If so then yes, they will interchange.

If you have a leak into the cabin, it is likely that your master cylinder has failed and the booster is half full of brake fluid.
The booster has no fluid in it , usually! LOL
If the booster still works, get a new master cylinder and empty out the booster with a syringe and a bit of tube.

When did they change from Imperial to metric fittings?

I read it as a vacuum leak Phillip. If not then yes you would suspect the MC as failing/ failed.
Still, would have to be going through fluid a fair bit though...

Thanks guys. The fluid level in the master has stayed around the same since I noted the leak. The leak is only noticable when the car is cold in the afternoon no leak![]()
Is the leak brake fluid or just a hiss from vacuum?
Regards Philip A
I think its just a hiss from the vac. Going to have a look on the week end.
