Put us all out of our misery... crawl underneath and look for an identification plate on your transfer case. - It will clearly boast its parentage !
fonfe,
Sounds like before you go and spend any hard earned on a winch be it electric or hand do the following;
1. Work out exactly what vehicle you have and how to use it (sounds like you are pretty well on the way based on this thread) you will be surprised what low range and a CDL/locked difff etc will get you out of or importantly stop you getting stuck in the first place;
2. Get a shovel, most important bit of recovery equipment and as you obviously are young , you should would not be afraid of a bit of work on the end of one;
3. Find the local 4wd club and join it, there will be plenty of options where you live and then you will immediately have some friends to go out with who know lots of good tracks and can show you what to do and probalby what not to do !.
4. Slap your mate with a 4wd, tell him to man up and get him out with you.
5. Enjoy Oz and remember the only stupid question is the one you do not ask.
Welcome to the forum !!
George
It's an LT230 - you can see that from the picture.
Wouldn't bother about an electric winch if I were you.
Experience and tires are more important.
firstly sorry about the spelling! (blaming my ipad's autocrorrect)
yep its a land lt230 as i have diff lock and high low range all on the one lever. was just very very stiff in and out of low/high.
as far as my knowledge goes with 4wding....its lacking a lot!
shall look into joining the local 4x4 club but am planning on moving up to townsville come next year so will have to find one up there too!
