    Central locking & starting altered...

    This is an interesting one...

1995 RRC has decided that the central locking will disabled, and the starter will only operate if the driver's door is closed. - All the usual IGN circuits operate as normal, eg, radio, power seats etc.

I normally lock/unlock manually, the key fobs are NEVER used. Also, I often start the car with the driver's door open (how I picked up that Something Had Changed..)

The only possibility is that #1 Son, who had been driving it last, has either done something with the key... possibly cycling unlock/lock/unlock to persuade the passenger lock to UNlock. (it's a bit sticky, often does'nt drive the snib to the 101% unlocked position. Very annoying, obviously)
    - Or the RR does not like him...

Before I do anything else, can someone point me in the right direction please?.

    - Fuse 15 is intact, and there's no mention of this in the handbook, and so far nothing in RAVE.

    1995 RRC with working EAS.

EDIT: - Disconnected battery for 2 minutes. No change...

The last of the RRC should have the one button fob and the same alarm as the 95 Disco - the VT17 - and no spider like the later models.

how to disable alarm? 94 softdash Rangie Classic

One of the ECU functions is that when the door is open, the timer that lets you close the window with the ignition off, is disabled. So if it won''t start with the door open, it's got to be related to the body ECU. So start with the door switch, give it a clean up and see what happens. Then see if you can find the local ground point for the body ECU ( should be behind right kickpanel ) and give it a clean. With good ground, the body ECU should behave. If, after that it still misbehaves, go over to the alarm side and give the other ground point a clean. If all that fails, unplug the alarm ( see the above thread) and use the jumper plug method. That at least will tell you that the alarm or the body ECU is playing up

Found the relevant RAVE sections under 'Electrical'. Central locking & Immobiliser. Printed out and now my bedtime reading for a day or three. - Busy cleaning up after today's garage sale. - Got rid of most junk apart from jerrycans.

Anyway, as long as it stays like it is, I can live with it, until...

    - Oh yes, the windows don't stay active for a while after IGN turned off, like they used to...

New glasses worth their weight in gold. Re-checked ALL the fuses, properly, - and with a test LED. F1/15A fuse in satellite 1 fusebox was kaput. Not a particularly violent 'blow'...

Everything back to normal, though I've noticed one of the PAX side locking motors sounds sluggish... my guess being it may be the cause.
Despite what RAVE says, mine only has the Alarm ECU, which seems to do both jobs (17VT AMR 2108, built mid-'94) There's an orphan plug which matches the description of the Central Locking ECU but has never been connected, judging by the corrosion on its contacts...

'95 Classic with working EAS and Central locking/Alarm

PS, still going to heap the guilts on #1 Son....
