uprated oil pump
Any one had experiences with upgrading the oil pump.
I'm in 2 frames of mind.
1. my oil pressure isn't the greatest and a constant worry to me so having a pump that can push more volume/pressure would be beneficial.
2. the upgrade would be extra unnecessary pressure on the distributor teeth, oil pump drive etc.

#2 is my line of thinking

#2 is my worry also, but is entirely dependent on the relief valve spring pressure you select.
I would think 10 to 20 % above standard should be adequate, BUT nothing can really compensate for replacing the bits that are worn enough to cause the problem in the first place.

Not really, if an engine gets a bit low on pressure either do a full rebuild or run thicker oil. Has worked as a principle for me these last 30 years. I currently run Penrite HPR30 equivalent 20W60 and change it every 7K. Any longer and the oil light takes longer to go out as the oil stabilisers break down.

Of 3 of the 4 Rangie classics Ive owned, I've always added a separate, air cooled engine oil cooler and not used the radiator one. Helps 2 ways- increased oil pressure due to lower temp and better engine water cooling.
One of the best ones I've found, and TOUGH is a Merc engine oil cooler, steel, most models with 6 cyl thru the '90's. In the Mercs its upright left side of radiator, but in RR fits neatly below the front-most cross member. Relatively easy to plumb up ( Pirtek or the like for hoses).
So if your oil pressure is ok when cold, then this a good solution.
Even a couple early Jags I've had, added an oil cooler and improved their oil pressure/engine cooling as well. eg.XJ6 S1 4.2l- oil pressure cold- 60psi; hot 50psi. engine temp NEVER got near red/hot in 6 years that I had it.

Couldn't agree more with having separate air cooled oil cooler. Ran one on our classic I had the oil temp gauge as well. Dropped the oil temp by 20C, pressure up by 5 psi. Never an issue with oil pressure. Engine has 160k on it now and still has (for a RR) decent oil pressure. Plus, always ran premium oil (though second owner didn't do any oil changes from what we can determine).
