Thread: Reassemble inlet query

I am reassembling my 88 inlet and have a query about the big seals around the injectors. I hope that the attached picture clarifies my problem. When I disassembled, I am fairly sure that the "spectacle" shaped plates clamped down on old the rubber seals round the injectors. The new rubber seals (genuine LR parts) around the injectors are slightly smaller and fit through the spectacle shaped plate and hence the plate no longer clamps them at all. I suspect the fuel rail will hold the injectors in anyway.
Is the "spectacle" plate meant to clamp the injectors? Does it matter?
