.... And when you do have Mr Serviceman do work on it, - such as radiator rodding - make sure he knows Range Rover products inside and out.
Got mine done recently, cost less than a well-advertised franchise group... and he pointed out the (many) errors and problems caused by said previous work.
Grimace is correct, but IMHO, for a differant reason... the alternator sits at the top of the petrol-guzzler, in the hottest part of a red-hot engine-room. Naturally it won't last too long. Mine died at only 140,000 Km. Normally get double/thrice that other brands...
The excess heat also shortens the life of all rubber hoses etc.. Change 'regularly'. (another thing never had to do...)
Adding air outlets in the bonnet sides or front wing trailing edge apparantly makes a worthwhile differance. Have seen a tastefully done 'Spitfire' style exhaust vent. Or pinch the 'gill' vents from a later Rangie...
Haunt this forum for info on the two types of transfer case. You really don't want to know what die$ (and why) in a Borg-Warner.:o

Hi All,
Im just jumping on this thread to save creating another.
What do you consider to be regular maintenance to prevent problems?
Besides the obvious of course
- Oil (5000k)
- Hoses (when hard)
- Transmission (20K)
- What am I missing??

Door Handle adjustment.
- May seem a minor detail... but not funny when it snaps off in your hand before you get in...
Not too finnicky, long-handled needle nose pliers make it a breeze. Set the length of the rod so that the mechanism opens before the handle reaches full movement. Generally the exterior handle twists/cracks on the hinge... which is proof that it needs adjusting. Occasionally can give way without warning. - Don't ask how I know...
The plastic plunger rod also bends, which I suspect gets worse over time. Have been told that this can also crack or even snap off.
Check and do it around every 5 to 10 years.
Brake fluid every year or two if you have the ABS / TC system. Every 2 to 3 years if you don't, to be sure.
Fit relays for the headlights. Your dip-switch is living on borrowed time.
Add "+50%" or more new headlight globes, clean/replace the lamp reflectors and you'll be able to see lots more at night :p
