Non Rover V8's for a classic RR - opinions...

I think the point of doing an engine swap is that you end up with something you want to keep and drive.

Having decided that, the relative $ value of the vehicle before and after shouldn't really be a consideration. Afterall, you aren't going to sell it anyway.

Very true, but you don't spend money on these as an investment...:D. I'll keep my classic going until the bitter end - whatever it takes and whatever it costs.

Jeez, I'm spending $2K on engineering and roadworthy on a Series III, not to mention the many $$$ on other parts of its restoration - that will be worth a solid $1000 or so when I'm done.:D

I'm happy to be able to keep a couple of these vehicles going long into the future. Not everyone's idea of a sensible way to spend money, but I'm happy enough to go there.:)

True enough,but a nice series is worth a lot more than a nice classic:o.Not to me,but that seems to be the case.Sure, if you want to do up a nice classic and keep it for years,go for it.To me its just not worth it.I can get a good 3.9 for mine for between $1400 and $1800 ,or i can by a later d1 for the same price ,complete car.Id rather a classic but you can see my point.

Where do I start on UZ's?

VVTI 1UZ will do 500HP on std internals with porting and cams. it also has a better inlet design than the non vvti. Wiring is a hassle as the factory ECU has mega security and requires the OEM ignition barrel wired in. Cannot be bypassed but can be dismantled. Also the vvti is a hassle to make work with an aftermarket ecu. You need to grind sensor lobes and be nice to a certain ECU manufacturer who will ask a certain person if they can supply the tune for the vvti mech. But it'll only work with a 2UZ with 12mm + cams and 52mm RB26 modded throttle bodies. And that took almost 3 years to make work. But when it did WOW.

The 2UZ will do 800+ HP and achieve 15000+ RPM if required. On just cams, rods and pistons plus a crank grind.
