The airbox nose has been cut back for room. This is only just sitting in as I use a after market air filter.

The power steering reservoir has been dropped down. I thought it looked like a factory mount where it is now.
Mine came with dual batterys so I never saw where these where fitted originally.
I'm planning on fitting a megasquirt system so the coil goes and a 300tdi airbox will go there, much better breathing. A connection to a snorkel from the side of the airbox will be easy to fit.

Did cutting down the air filter nose loose you any performance? I hear you can loose some power at the top end?
Can't help there oversite, mine was cut short when I bought it.
About losing power at the top end, in theory you would think it would be the other way around, you are making a small opening bigger as the intake tube is tapered and at high revs you want to get as much air into the engine as you can. What it will do though is cause turbulance in the air flow as you are taking away the curved flange around the intake tube's opening and leaving a sharp edge, this may cause the power loss.
All early air cleaners on carby's like the Holden 6's and 8's for example had an intake tube with a flanged opening and the first thing you did when wanting more out of them was change the air cleaner.
On the other hand though, they were put there for a reason and tuned with them there.
One test you could do is go for a drive with it all standard and get a feel of it then unclip and take the front off completely leaving the filter screwed inside the intake barrel and going for the same drive and comparing how it feels.
It it feels the same or better than just leave the front off till you decide about the snorkel. They are usually fitted to a intake pipe fitted to the side of the original barrel with the front hole sealed up, the front still removable to change air filters.
There would be a thread here with pictures I'd say.
