RRC - Enhancing Traction Options?
Well, I'm 12 months ahead of myself having just spent the kids inheritance on my bucket list TD5 modded 1994 RRC LSE softdash.
I want to improve 4 wheel traction ideally to get close to my D2a with trutracs (plus standard D2a TC, CDL etc).
The RRC has the BW viscous coupling (recently overhauled) and hopefully Daves magic will soon mean a fully functional EAS hopefully just needing a replacement wiring harness, which in turn should get drivers electric seat and mirrors working again. The EAS is currently working in part, but the newly fitted replacement bags are individually lifted manually via a separate control box.
I have no idea yet of the interaction between the BW VC and rear only TC, but understand the front axle assembly is an open diff.
At the least, I would like to fit an ashroft ATB or trutrac to the front. I am not that keen on air lockers, especially for the front and like the seamless all road automatic operation of the front trutrac and no requirement to fit HD axles etc, even at the expense of some traction loss/interference from ABS or whatever, remembering that this is a touring vehicle, not a rock climber.
I would be interested in any suggestions/advice. Cheers Gavin
