Thanks fellas for the compliments, it should be even better when there's a few more interior bits replaced.
I was really fortunate today to be invited to buy some interior parts from a dead 2 door, by another two door owner. It has helped me immensely.
Now I'm armed with another interior door latch and fiddly bits, a rear seat catch assembly with knob, a pair of those fragile plastic D panel covers, an instrument binnacle rear cover and an undamaged front grill.
Another step closer.
Cheers,
Richard

jackafrica,
She's a fine looking example ....... congratulations.
A rare well looked after one, looks like she sitting well without any typical rear bum sag.
I can understand why you have the smile on your face and from experience you'll still have for many years to come.
They just look so good, and she's gone to someone who will appreciate it for what they are .....rare
I see jezz84 has picked up a licensed 4 door at a bargain price,it needs some TLC but he's sounds very keen and excited ....just like you :D
Cheers

You can use the later high ratio gears for the transfer case (from the last of the 4 speed 4 doors) and spacer it up correctly for little gear float and most of the noise disappears. My 2 door was about 3300 rpm at 110km compared to my 5 speed classic 2500 at 110km if my memory is correct.

Baggy, yours looks like a shiny version of my POS.
Mine doesn't get washed often, coz I have a property at the end of a dirt road that is often wet.
What size tyres and how far out from the front guards do they sit? I have the same rims, but rubber flares that I wouldn't mind getting rid of.
cheers, DL

2 or 4 door problematic?
Hi DL,
Thanks ....she is a long term project to do up as funds allow :D
I'm running 31 x 10.5 R15LT and are almost the same dia overall as std 16" rims and tyres but the offset on rims does cause tyres to overshoot guards.
She has a two inch lift and tyres and stick out of guards by approx 35mm at the top ....it gives a nice look but I'm sure it's illegal, though we don't have mandatory yearly inspections here in the West - yippee.
Tyres are close to guards (at the bottom of guards) and I'm thinking an extra two inch lift is in order but that throws up a whole set of new issues to be dealt with not in the least being camber angles.
I don't do any hard 4WD but I do take it to Byford in Perth on a regular basis mainly on gravel tracks but are careful on anything uneven to avoid panel damage.
I'm not interested in chopping guards as my intent is to eventually bring her back to original and use her as a Sunday drive while purchasing a Defender or Disco as a runabout .....though I haven't told the misses yet ;)
Cheers

Hi All,
This is a current photo of my 2 Door.
Funnily enough it also has its original tools bag still held by rubber straps in back :D
