From your memory how does it compare to other p76 motors?
I have only ever driven this rangie and another one with a stock standard 3.5L. The difference was crazy. The 3.5L was running 30" tyres and the 4.4L was on 35" and even then the 4.4 would absolutely blow it away.
As I was saying earlier, it would be disappointing to choose the wrong motor to keep. The 308 is somewhat unknown in its potential, but if it turns out like the 4.4 i have then i'll be more than happy.
Its like no other 4.4 ive owned or driven . If it was me id keep that engine its a good one and its still alloy and not a cast iron anchor:angel: . The holden donk has so many hot up parts availble at a affordable price if you wanted more powerQuote:

Hopefully it will be a R380-5 speed/LT230 arrangement. The R380 being the most reliable of the Rover 5 speed boxes and more flexible (less fuel burn at highway speed) than the 4 speed in the '73.
The Schuler trans is 3speed auto. It is the transfer case that has been swapped as far as I know.
Hmmmm engine dilemma.
Yes the main thing about the schuller was the VC transfer box and IMHO the LT230 transfer box is more usefull.
IIRC the Shuller's came with both the BW35 and the Torqueflyte 727, 3 speed slush boxes. (The TF727 will tolerate very big V8s.)
Neither the TF727 or BW35 have direct where they lock the torque converter at higher speeds and so can be relatively expensive on fuel on the highway.
In this respect the 4 speed ZF HP24 is a better box.
Almost all combinations of engines/gearbox/transfer will fit on the engine mounts, if you use the correct gearbox/transfer brackets to bolt them to the chassis side rails.
After much deliberation I've decided that I have to sell both my Range Rovers. :(
I am renovating my house at the moment and have absolutely no time or money to spend on cars. I will be putting them on eBay tomorrow evening and hope to get some, ideally all, of my money back.
