Late 88 was the change from the LT230 with the locking centre diff to the Borg Warner viscous unit. If the lever inside moves sideways, then it's LT230.
This many years on there is no guarantee that what you have is what came out of the factory.
10 spline diffs have mushroom caps on the centre of the hubs with imperial bolts. If you have metric bolts with flattish rear caps and rubber front caps then they *might* be 24 spline.
There are some which use the later metric style axle ends of the 24 spline but are actually 10 spline at the diff.
