    arb rear bar tow hitch

    hi

    my rangie has an arb rear bar when i bought it a few weeks ago and i noticed the tow hitch doesnt have a hole for the pin. does this need to be drilled or should it slide out behind the bar as the chassis rail stops it from doing that. i was going to landcruiser this weekend with a trailer and realised its either not finished.

    actually now i think of it it has a body lift so it could have been lifted to suit without realising the tow hitch is now useless

    any ideas

    ARB bar has holes for pin up underneath the car near to the back and is a very solid setup. Lift or not that bit would not change .
    Are you saying the towbar tongue part does not have the hole? On the RR with ARB the towbar square section is at a downwards angle not straight as many Hayman Reese type are.
    A pic would help as I am concerned that either it is not an ARB setup or the tongue is the wrong one (although I can't imagine it not having a hole in it).

    Yep, as Bundy said - the hole is accessible if you lie down and look under the car. A Hayman Reece style tongue will not fit - wrong angle, not long enough and the hole is in the wrong spot.

    ARB don't sell the tongues any more, you will either need to scrounge one up, or make one up.

    so i have the angled tongue but the problem i have is the tongue slides in the hole but will hit the chassis crossmember before the hole is exposed. should the hole be in the tube section of the hole or should the tongue stick out past hole to expose the pin hole

    Have you actually located the hole in the receiver within the bar? Sounds to me like you're trying to shove it the whole way through and pin it on the back...

    i had a similar problem - my lse had the arb bar, but not the tongue. i ordered one in through arb and it didn't line up; turned out the little brace on the tongue was welded on arse-about and didn't give me the 10mm or so needed for the pin hole to line up.
