Have you tried another set of injectors? it's quite easy to fit a bunch after you undo the plenum top with the 6 allen key head bolts. My brother's old 3.5 ran OK with the MAF altered but another set of injectors made it much much better.
so my 3.5lt os now running on petrol. On gas or runs fine. On petrol or idles well light throtle when driving is ok. But when i want to drive normally the engine almost backfires and runs poorly. Between 3 and 3500 rpm it is almost fine. Lower revs it struggles to build rpm and above 3500 it is loudly doing very little.
Timing is 9dbtdc i have a new fuel pump and pressure regulator. I know 7 injectors are working i assume the 8th does too. I've tries adjusting the mixture in the maf. The engine ran a little better when i turned the wheel anti clockwise. It now idles best where it is currently positioned. I've got no idea what to do now. I need it running on petrol by ANZAC day weekend.
if anyone has an idea please let me know.

Not sure how similar the 3.5 is to the 3.9 however symptoms are the same as I recently experienced.
I had a crook water temp sensor that communicates with the ECU.
Be sure that you purchase the Britpart replacement where your socket goes onto the metal housing as the Lucas replacement goes onto a plastic part of the sensor which created challenges.

Sounds like you had the cold start injector running. I've check the manual (bible) and it does not clearly state the cold start injector only activates when cranking. It talks about a temp range. This would make the car run rich but i wouldn't have though it would create this many issues. I did notice the wire had come off me sensor but it didn't bring up any light on the dash or anything. But the thermo fans were going flat out.
While this seems like an obvious next step. I'm really hoping it isn't injectors because the cost an awful lot.
I disconnected one injector at a time to see if it made the engine run different at idle and it did. So i'll pull them out again, as i changed all the seals recently, after i change the temp sensor.
Thanks for your help fellas! I need it running for the high country ANZAC day weekend and i'd almost giving up![]()
RRC 3.5 doesn't run those injectors, they are hose tail types. You need some off a VL Commodore, XJ6 Jag or Rover 3500 saloon. I can ask a customer of mine if he still has any injectors to suit, he supplied the first lot that went into big bro's RRC some years ago. Personally I'd put up a wanted ad on aulro for a set, someone's shed is bound to have some.
Take a photo of them and I'll get you a set for a small fee.. I've got a heap from motors I've stripped I'll pick out the best ones for yah
