Another ignition module failure?

Hi All,
Been away from Rangie and internet for a couple of weeks....
I got hold of a second hand ecu locally....fixed everything and car runs perfectly for a few days....then cut out again and coil was quite warm to touch.....Coil primary winding resistance is 1.4 ohms secondary winding is 7k ohms.....Starting to wonder if I have a problem that is killing the part of the ecu that controls the 2 -8 cylinder bank.

There's a big resistor block thing near the MAF, that could have a crook connection or two. All 4 injectors on each side are switched by one wire into the resistor block before 4 wires exit to switch the injectors. Positive is common to all 8 IMHO. I can have a look at my wreck tomorrow if you need it.

Thanks bee utey....I'll have a look and get out the multi meter....For the 3 days it was running on the swapped ecu + BIM024 conversion it was the best its been in the 30k I've had the car, so keen to get this sorted :)

Any tips on diagnostic approach to the Lucas 12PR resistor block would be appreciated as I can't find any info on specs or test procedures apart from the extremely helpful "substitute a known good unit".....

Got hold of the resistance values for the power resistor block - 6 ohms +/- 1 ohm.All 8 are within spec at 6.5 - 6.9 ohms.

Might be time to bite the bullet and pull and unwrap the efi harness and look for abrasions etc that are causing an intermittent short....

I think the problem is finally solved....I changed to another ecu and still no start....checked the efi harness and all good continuity wise except where there is (on my car) a secondary grounding wire attached to a second stud on passenger side rear of block.
I had previously cleaned the stud and ground wire but decided to pull stud - which was almost inaccessible and there was a lot of electrolytic corrosion on the threads. Cleaned the hole out with a tap and put in a new stud with additional earth to battery ground and all is good :D.
Currently have 120km completed since the fix, so fingers crossed.

Aah, yes, I remember seeing one of those. Checking voltages around the ECU I finally found it. Good thing his LPG was still working. I think I pulled the earth up to one of the inlet manifold bolts where it was more accessible.
